M.V. Islander leisurely 3/4 day cruise provides a unique opportunity to spend extra time with the whales. The M.V, Islander is a 30 metre luxury catamaran, very stable and comfortable for cruising the calm waters of Hervey Bay. Whilst traveling to the whales, relax in one of the large lounges, surrounded by old world charm of polished timbers and gleaming brass. Or go for a walk along the decks to watch the dolphins ride the bow wave, perhaps wander the upper deck to the wheelhouse for a chat with the skipper. |

Humpback whales are the fifth largest animal ever to have lived on this planet. They annually migrate between the icy waters of Antarctica and the warm waters of the Great Barrier Reef. They choose to enter the calm waters of Hervey Bay Marine Park to rest and recuperate before continuing south. There, a total change of attitude takes place; they stop their migratory style swimming, become relaxed and playful, generally remaining on the surface. |
|
| It is only in these waters, where visitors can see humpback whales in their most playful mood as so often seen on TV: tail and pec slapping, head lunging and breaching, when the animal weighing some 40.000kg will leap almost clear of the water in and awesome, but graceful display of sheer strength. | ||
