M.V. Mikat invites you to settle back and relax as you depart from the Great Sandy Straits Marina to Moon Point on Fraser Island, where you will enter the Hervey Bay Marine Park to enjoy a day amongst the Humpback Whales.

Seldom in a lifetime is anyone offered an opportunity to come face to face with the fifth largest animal that has ever lived on this planet, the mighty Humpback Whale.

The Humpback Whale is the most playful of all the large whales and the most acrobatic, as they can leap clear of the water - but also the most gentlest, as they approach the vessel in a gesture of friendship and trust.

The sight of the first Humpback Whale for the day is an unforgettable experience, to see an animal weighing some 45,000kg or an equivalent weight of 11 elephants is breathtaking.

Departure Time:

Whale season August to October:
Mikat departs from the Sandy Strait Marina at Urangan daily at 9.00am.
Boarding at 8.45am and returning approx. 2.30pm.
